Precious Metals Division - Compin

The Compin prospect is made up of three concessions totaling 2,400 hectares, bordered by concessions of, among others, Barrick and Cambior (Figure 10). It is located about 30-35 kilometres southwest of the Masma prospect. The property lies between 1,200 and 2,750 m asl.

The regional geology is made up of sedimentary rocks of the Lower Cretaceous Chimu, Santa and Carhuaz formations, folded into synclines and anticlines along an east-west axis. Small stocks, mainly granodiorite, intrude into the sequence.

Northwest of the village of Compin, small intrusives of porphyritic dacite/andesite into Chimu arenaceous sediments have produced strong clay alteration (kaolin-illite-sericite). Sampling here resulted in a gold value of 118 ppb (with 1,865 ppm As). Anomalous gold values (210 ppb and 368 ppb) also were found near the village of Marmot, south of Compin.

Inca Gold reports that the Compin prospect lies within the epithermal aureole of a copper-gold porphyry currently being drilled by another company to the southwest of the Compin prospect.
