Vena Resources Completes Regional Exploration Program in Alto Chicamo Area and Acquires Geophysics Data on the Las Princesas Gold-Silver Project

08/22/2005

August 22, 2005--Vena Resources Inc--(TSX.V: VEM, BVL: VEM) announces that it has purchased airborne geophysical data relating to the Las Princesas project from Cambior Inc. The geophysical program was flown in the spring of 2004 over the entire Alto Chicama corridor in northern Peru and shows a strong geophysical target of 1000 by 800 meters in the southeast corner of the property over a geological formation similar to Barrick’s Alto Chicama mine.

The Company has completed a 1,000 sample geochem exploration program on the Las Princesas concession area and has encountered evidence of both high and low sulfidation mineral systems. The property is located adjacent to and between the operating Quiruvilca silver mine (Pan American Silver) and the Alto Chicama gold mine (Barrick Gold).

“We are very excited by the potential opportunities for significant mineralization demonstrated by the Las Princesas project located adjacent to the 10 million ounce Alto Chicama gold mine recently put into production by Barrick Gold and the apparent geological extension of the Quiruvilca silver mine shown by 11 Ag/Pb vein structures and the reassessment of Ballad’s RC drilling campaign”, said Juan Vegarra, Chairman of Vena Resources.

Vena Program

Based on the newly purchased geophysical data in combination with the regional surface sampling, geological mapping data collected to-date and previous drill campaign Vena will be selecting appropriate drill targets for Las Princesas. The Company is concurrently reviewing all technical data along the Alto Chicama corridor obtained for:

(1) Huamachuco project next to Cambior’s El Toro project, a 750,000 ounce high sulfidation, epithermal system;

(2) Huaranchal project next to the IGOR (800,000 oz Au) mine, a low sulfidation, epithermal environment;

(3) Masma project next to the high sulfidation Shahuindo gold project, located 5 kilometers to the northeast, and the Algamarca mine, 2 kilometers to the northeast, a low sulfidation vein mine producing mostly silver with gold; and

(4) Santiago de Chuco project next to the producing COMARSA gold mine.
